Our free article for teachers on Embodied Learning

Professor Andrew Manches

Some of the key ideas from the Move2Learn project are now in an open-access article written for practitioners, in the Journal of Emergent Science (issue 24, pages 23 to 32). It is free to read.

The article covers:

  • what Embodied Learning is, and why the gestures we make matter
  • what we found when children aged 3 to 8 explained what they had learned at science exhibits
  • practical ideas for early years and primary teachers

It also explains how STEM Charades came about, through online workshops with primary teachers in 2021 and 2022.

We are developing an at-cost online self-study course on Embodied Learning with the University of Edinburgh and SSERC, and the article gives a taste of what it will cover.
